Art Journaling
Art Journaling "Big Girl Style" I've decided that It's time for me to keep an art journal. My goal is to challenge myself to create and get new ideas on a regular basis, using quality products! That's why I'm calling this my "Big Girl Art Journal". An early Christmas Gift From Thom:) He has always been my biggest fan! Even if Art to him is just a guys name!
This piece is created on a 9x12 140# Strathmore Watercolor Mixed Media Journal. Using Grumbacher Acrylic Paints, Tombow Dual Brush Pens and Studio Matte Medium for glazing.
I'm pleased with my first journal page!

More Christmas in October
Even though it's only mid October, before you know it the Holidays will be here. I'm already seeing Christmas displays in the craft stores, and in some of the retail businesses. So I guess I'm not too out of line by displaying some of my Holiday creations!
This is how I decided to re-purpose some old CD's:)

Positive Thoughts and Art Nouveau
I am totally fascinated by some of the illustrators of the Art Nouveau Period. I Especially love the work of Alphons Mucha and Rolf Armstrong. I find myself borrowing pieces of their illustrations and altering them to use in some of my postcard art.
These two images are by Rolf Armstrong. I added the brick paper for the background. Pieces of earrings that I got at the dollar store, ribbon, and some metal flowers from Tim Holtz.
Positive Quotes and drawing on the image. All these things, make me Happy:)

Amazingly Strange!
I'm always looking for inspiration for my Steampunk Art,
sometimes I find it on Google images and sometimes Pintrest. When I saw the photo of this woman I thought how perfect, I don't know anything about her accept that she's great for this piece!:)
This is a 6x6 canvas. Some of the metal gears I used are from Tim Holtz, Seven Gypsy's and some are charms from the Jewelry department at Michael's.
Here are a couple of details!
Thanks for looking!

Steampunk "Spells"
I was so excited when Graphics 45 brought out a new line of papers, the "Steampunk Spells Collection" combining two of my favorite subjects Halloween and Steampunk. This piece is 6x6 mixed media on canvas, the metal gears are Tim Holtz, old key holes and keys I found at garage sales and flea markets. The wings are from a necklace I found at a dollar store. I love the hunt for the treasures I use in my art :)

Back from our Vacation West !!!!!!
We are Back!!! It was a wonderful vacation! Two weeks in South Dakota and Wyoming. I brought all of my art supplies, but there was so much to see!!! I've never been west of Chicago. The mountains were breath taking and the ride into Yellowstone was a truly humbling experience, no radio, no talking, just realizing how beautiful this country is.

My Sketch Book
This is a little different for me. Illustrating has always been a passion if mine. I did a lot of this in collage. It's been a very long time since I picked up a pencil to draw. With our vacation coming up soon, I don't think I can go two or three weeks without working on something. Easy to bring a sketchbook and pencils while camping.
Working on hand lettering
Working on shading and lines.
Well I think with a little more practice I'll get these skills back!
