This weeks theme for Sunday Postcard Art was "Altered Mona"

So here's my take on that! Of course I had to add Gidget in the mix! She looks a little worried sitting on Mona's lap! Below is a close up of the inkwork on the  butterflies.

All About Style

Yes it's all about "STYLE" and Gidget, was the inspiration for the Dec/Jan, ATC swap on Creative Souls "Our Beloved Pets" I made two cards for this swap one for my partner and one for me to keep!  The subject, Smidge, that's one of her nick names, is  close to my heart and yes, she is loved! She's neurotic, but very lovable.

She hates the rain ,snow and cold, needs a coat to go outside and has to have a blanket to crawl under. She is a sweetie and Thom and I love her!

Sunday Postcard Art

This weeks theme for "SPA" is Hobbies and Pastimes. I thought about it for a couple of days. How do I fit all of the things I like to do on a 4X6 postcard? Well, this is what I came up with! Enjoy!

Sunday Postcard Art

  Well its a new year! "Happy New Year everyone!" With the New Year comes some resolutions, one of mine for this year is to network a little more. I need to see what other artists are doing and where I fit in. 

 An artist friend that I follow displays her work on a site called "Sunday post Card Art". Every week there is a new theme and you have a week to create a 4X6 Post card for it. Yea! this gives me the opportunity to get some feedback!!!! The theme for this weeks card is "Celestial" (Sun, moon, stars, etc....) This is the card I am submitting. Looking forward to the next week!

First Snow

December 13, 2010 The First  official Snow Day of the season. This was a welcome relief after yesterdays weather. The sun was shining and my backyard was a "Winter Wonderland". No school today! I have the whole day to work the things I love to do. Camera in hand, out to the yard. It's so peaceful after a snow, and then the sun comes out and all the activity begins. Even Squirrelo comes out to see whats going on. This was absolutely the most perfect day off!

The Holiday Season is officially here. My house is decorated inside and out, and Christmas shopping has begun. I've also been quite busy creating hand stamped ornaments.

I emboss the design on colored card stock thed hand color them with Pearlescent and Metallic watercolors. A few crystals and a gold ribbon. Makes for a very festive ornament for your tree! 

Our Backyard Friends

It's December, and it's COLD!!!! Thom and I have been taking good care of our friends in the back yard. We have cardinals, finches, and chickadees, occasionally there is a hawk that comes to visit. I think he's really checking out the fish in the pond, luckily right now they're hiding, and the pond is freezing over.  We quickly found out that when you feed the birds, you also get the squirrels and yes they are our squirrely friends. The little boy that lives next door calls him squirrelo, and he loves to pose for pictures. He is quite the character and now all his friends know where we live, try to keep them out of the bird feeders! That's Ok we take care of all our little critters! 

Unwinding!

   My work days are busy, loud, and really busy. When its time for lunch I like to relax and the only way I can do that is to sit away from everyone and work on my art. I'm not sure if my co-workers understand, but I hope they do. Both of these pieces were started at home and finished at school.  I really love the gears and the steampunk look to them. They are only 4x6, thats the perfect size to do at school. I hope you enjoy these!!!!!

                            

ATC's and ACEO's

  Fall is my favorite time of the year! I've been feeling very creative and with Halloween just around the corner, inspiration is everywhere.

  I've been creating ATC's ( Artist Trading Cards) for a few years. The idea behind them is to trade your art with other artists. So I have joined a swap group on "Creative Souls"

Each month we have a new theme and we are assigned partners to swap with. I've received some really

beautiful pieces from people all over the United States. Connecting with other artists that share the same interest is great,and I learn a lot from these women in my ATC group. For example I didn't realize that they could be sold if they were labeled ACEO (Art Cards Editions and Originals). This is an art format that started on ebay a couple of years ago. ACEO's can sell anywhere from $1.00 to over $100 or more!

Halloween At Our House

Hello Everyone!  Yes it's that time again ! Thom is officially working on the 2010 LeFevre Halloween Display. This year we have added several new characters to the mix including the lab technician. We have a little bit of everything this year.  Mr. and Mrs. Bones not to mention, a lot of little bone's running around the yard. and jumping out of  burned out bedroom windows, but, it's all in fun. Hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween!
